just taken my first successful steps into the world of OC'ing, I have tried in the past and managed to nearly break my system by pushing too hard and too quickly.

Thanks to Nvidia System Tools, as my BIOS is OEM locked against OC'ing i've managed to get my little Celermon E1400 2.0Ghz up to 2.3Ghz but according to various posts on the OC forums i can take it to 2.4 without a voltage increase, getting a little concerned about temps though, its hitting 50C after 2 hours of Prime95 will have to see if 2.4 gets a bit too hot for my blood

i went from 2.83 to 3.4 my temps with prime 95 are 50C without prime 95 there 30-35 C but i dont know anything that gets it as hot as prime 95
thank you :) you are absolutely right, I monitored my temps whilst doing other processor intensive stuff (games, DVD encoding etc.) and it never got anywhere near the 53C cap that prime 95 hit, i think my top temp was about 42, unfortunately I've hit another snag, 2.4Ghz just isnt working for me.... It randomly exits programs that use alot of processor power (not Prime 95 wierdly though ) and was BSOD'ing quite a bit until I backed her off to 2.3 again, 2.3 seems to be stable though, so i guess im stuck there until i can get a better system.
maybe raise voltage ?? im not sure i was lucky enough to lock in the stock 1.275 and thats where i left it - when i left it on auto thats when i was having problems it was raising volt to nigh maybe i dont know but i was getting BSOD

Highest I've been able to get so far without messing with the voltage...installed the Corsair H50 today, and my idle temps are around 45 with this OC. 2.66 to 3.4 ain't bad, in my opinion.

First one is my older machine with the E8600 CPU 24/7 setting at 4.4GHz 1200MHz memory speed, runs cool and easy here. I benched this CPU at 4.7GHz on air and ran the X Terran Conflict bench to records for a single card.

Second is my Q9650 4.05GHz 1200MHz memory speed 24/7 setting on this machine. This CPU can easily run at 4.275GHz stable. Both are 12 hours Prime Blend stable.

Both pictures show the max temps during the Prime Blend testing.

    Looks good

Temps seem a bit high though.

Mine shows max temps during a 12 hour Prime blend test with mid summer heat in SD. Heat certainly isn't a problem for me and is well within tolerences, totally normal for a quad past 4GHz IMO.

Posting low voltages and temps with no proof of stablity isn't my style. :)

The Prime Blend screen shot proves the overclock is stable which is why I post those.

People need to try this more around here because overclocks that aren't stable also aren't very useful cept for bragging rights I guess.
All you have to do is turn the machine on for CPU-Z screen shots.

Mine idles 32C 1-2 and 37C 3-4 for the other cores, not that idle temps mean much.

    Understand what your saying.

Didn't mean to break any rules

What I did, was just some OC'ing for myself. So I don't have a complete set of records.

    Had turbo enabled.
EIST C3 enabled, which lowered the voltage when at Idle.
Never had to increase voltage on the CPU, I have seen similar i5 750 CPU OC's on other sites with similar setting and the same temps.

I ran Memtest for 4 hours, Prime95 for about 5 hours.
All temps were stable over the abbreviated tests.
According to info read on a few overclocking sites, though not being up to official standards, the length of the tests were adequate for what I was doing.
Ran this OC for a while, then set it back to 3.36 GHz.

The above post is after the Memtest (during test 1.120v), Prime95 max temps were 56-59c at 1.184v.

Posted this to show the idle temps, 26-33c.
Was just posting the CPUZ and temps to show blackroseMD1 (we have the same CPU) that the idle temps might be a little high.

Yeah, I agree. I think the ambient temp has a lot to do with that, as I live in a small studio apartment, and the temp in here can get pretty warm. I think the temps will go down once I add another fan to the H50 and the 230mm fan on the side of the case.

Looks good to me Dave. Temps look good also but with such low Vcore I would expect that. Did you run the Prime 95 Blend test? It's better than the FFT test for stablity testing because it stresses both the CPU and the memory. 10 hours of that will really test the OC from every different angle.

I'm convinced you could get quite a bit more from your i5 seeing has how you aren't pushing the voltage yet. The difference between 3GHz and 4GHz is pretty dramatic as far as performance goes.

I can't believe the clocks they are getting on the new Intel 980X extreme 6 core CPU's, 4.97GHz on air and stable enough to run Vantage. That is one expensive ball game though. I'll have to wait for that CPU to trickle down to a different version like when the Q9650 Extreme turned into the Q9650 and ended up clocking even better than the more expensive E version. In the mean time I'll just put a GTX480 or 485 in this old machine and keep it for awhile longer. :)

    OC Core i5 - 750 / ATI HD 5770

Both the CPU and GPU run stable under extreme burn in torture testing.
Max Temp on the CPU after 10 hours of Prime95 blend test is around 72c.
Max temp on GPU after 10 hours of FurMark is around 70c with fan set to auto.

    Looks good.

    Nice hardware

Hows the Corsair H50 working for you?
