Yes don't even install the corsair fans that come with the H80. Discard them to a deaf friend and go with a premium like Noctua's, Corsairs new high pressure quiet series, Scythe's and the like. Same with all the case fans, if it was me I would go with Noctua's on straight 12v off the PSU for all of them, use focused flow high pressure on the push/pull rad. set up and for front fans pushing over the hard drives then the standard Noc's everywhere else and anyplace the Noc/ 140mm that can mount in a 120mm like the rear exhaust, side intakes and top exhaust placements I would use them. Yeah they have a unique look but nothing runs as quiet!

Is there a cooling performance increase with those fans or will it only be how quiet the cooling is?

No more of a pleasure increase from not have to shout over your rig when you game or do advanced work that draws power and heat like ripping music, photo/video editing, CAD and the like.

If you don't upgrade the fans then for sure go with a nice fan controller so you can spin the stockers down when doing light work and spin them up to take off when you game or other.

That's ok I'm wanting a new case and change over my rig but I'm thinking it's not really needed and better to hold off. Also have built several compact rigs with the kill components only using a m-atx format in my mind and just can't wait to close a couple of fat deals and I'll pull the trigger on one or two massive upgrades..
