What would be an ideal voltage for this processor then?
I don't want to burn up my new gear
At 4.5ghz anywhere between 1.2 and 1.3v is fine.

At 4.8ghz mine needed 1.37 v , they recommend not exceeding 1.4v for regular use. That's why I was concerned when I saw your voltage at 4.6ghz.

I assume you are monitoring your temps while you are overclocking?

My temps never got above 65 while running.

But now i have settled here, i like this speed and voltage combo :)

That's a good voltage too. At that voltage you can keep it running very cool and not have to worry about temps. Nice job.

I have to admit, I've never seen that. Just a suggestion, go to bios and set optimized defaults, set your ram, sata controller, and boot order save and exit. See how it runs that way.

Done a benchmark test on my whole computer, which used to be 2250. Now it's 450!

My gtx580 used to be 3000 fps, is now 400.

I tried all the obvious stuff. Load optimal defaults, reset bios, set everything to auto. everything!
It's strange that even my gpu is feeling it.
And now, the device manager is saying the iGPU function isn't even there anymore. I think the motherboard is faulty!

that time i booted up, and it was x45 with 4.7ghz for about 30 sec, then dropped down. Do the bios have a switch for dropping back the cores to save power?

If I told you guys, you wouldn't believe me!!!!!

I installed "real temp" to monitor my temps! That was causing everything!
soon as i turned it off, i could watch in real time the mult went from x8 to x47

    LMAO, something else learned!
