I've seen mine get to 86* at my maximum OC of 4948MHz. I know it'll never get anywhere near that hot with regular or even heavy usage. Unless I'm stress testing, mine never gets past 55*C.
Correct only when stress testing also manual voltage is actually set to 1.270 and the offset because the LLC is ultra keeps it a little over which is fine by me
I think Manual voltage works better for me than offset because I have more room to play around
Also knowing the range in volts to the frequency is a plus ,that is how I learned to overclock from the get go studied people 's ranges and volts they use and apply my own formula
I do check temps after gaming for a few hours usually hover round 49c or a little under running WEI gave it low 50 nothing over 60
You can still have a good range with an offset, and with LLC on Ultra, it gives it a little extra headroom just in case it needs it. There's no use running a fixed voltage at 1600MHz or 4700MHz. Just a thought
It doesn't idle down even though speedstep is on
it's a locked OC it once in a while idles but I barley give it a chance too
once you pass the initial Boost limit the oc should be locked there anyway anything above 3.9 that is I could use a offset of 10 but I don't want to see all that flexing either
Tommy, voltage doesn't idle down at 1600 because you are on manual voltage. If you were on offset, it would. I use manual to find the voltage for an overclock and then convert it to offset the way I and Kelly told you, with the VID from Core Temp.
I just read that someone using offset compared to manual uses more voltage and most likely to crash because it needs more
I don't have any sleep states on just C3 as I keep reading about these chips there are a few combinations that allow low voltage but the CPU has to be fixed volts which was said makes no difference on the longevity of the CPU
So I am wondering if doing offset would make my volts go higher then they are now
Run Prime and while it is running watch your Voltage and the VID on core temp. When tou have run it for just a little while, CPU voltage - VID = Offset. It may be +/-.
C states on Manual should be on, C states on offset should be off. That was in the guide both Me and Kelly posted for you.
EDIT: When you use Manual Voltage it is very close to what voltage you set is the voltage you will get, whether on idle or running Prime. When you use Offset, it allows the voltage to move around a lot. No since running 1.3V while idling on the desktop, so it will drop, usually to below 1V, when you run Prime it will jump up, depending on what the CPU is calling for, but the swings can be a little higher or lower than needed. That's why for a high overclock, I always use manual, I have control of it. For my every day overclock, I find the right offset and use that. Right now I run at 4.5 every day and an offset of -.045. I only have that offset because my CPU stinks and my VID is way high.
