I'll get some scores up later, but I thought I'd share results from a personally witnessed 'a why OC/what benefit' point of view.

I was using ARMA 2/Benchmark 1 to test. (Arma is far more CPU intensive than GPU.)

I had fraps going and it gives you the 'average' at the end.

On stock clocks, the average FPS was 42.

Turbo Enabled, 4 GHZ single core, 3.8GHZ all cores, average 43

    At 4.7GHZ, average 52 FPS

While I watched these runs, the frames really chugged on stock and turbo. At 4.7ghz, the min frames were up to 15FPS higher on average.

(I also did a couple of OCed GPU card runs and the increase was about 3FPS.)

So yeah, an average 10+FPS jump on an OCed chip. In game, this results in a higher average/min frame rate with less slow down.

Not all games will show a distinct improvement with a CPU OC, but for those that do... worth it.

That is a pretty impressive increase in FPS, and with that sort of increase then it shows OC'ing the CPU to have it's advantages outside of benchmarks.

    Thanks mate.

Benchies are fun to pass time(when they work), compare changes etc - But yep, real world improvement is my personal point to OCing.

*Anyone using 3DM11 under 8? It keeps erroring on me. I think it might be do with the framework.

    EDIT:

*sigh* It is a.NET framework issue. PITA

Finally spent some time working on my new 3770K and managed to get 4.6GHz @ 1.288v (with a -0.045 offset).

Temps are great. I'm using Liquid Ultra and a H-100. I'm waiting on more Liquid Ultra to arrive so I can de-lid (this time I won't kill the chip)

    Not bad tw33k.

This is where I am right now, I have not really done much fiddling, I am pretty sure the Vcore can be a little lower but it's running well and temps are ok.

The shot I posted was 10 mins into prime.

Edited to add, I am using Arctic Silver 5.

Yeah, fair play to tw33k for going for it a 2nd time, I am not sure I would but I know he knows what he is doing.

Edit: Out of interest what is your idle voltage tw33k? Mine seems very low.
