that's the minimum i can go for the vcore on the 4.8ghz oc. but just doing that for fun. i never run it for long period of time. and i cant benchmark with it because the temp goes to high now and i actually score lower than with my 4.4ghz oc which temp are pretty ok and safe to run @100%CPU use.

Well, I found the wall, 4.8GHz 1.304v (DVID +0.140v) boots fine but crashes when starting IBT.
Didn't want to go anymore on the voltage.
    4.7GHz 1.284v passes IBT average temp mid/upper 80's.
Going to run at 4.6GHz 1.224v average IBT temps mid 80's.

Dave that is a excellent Oc and good Temps
even thought our Tech is worlds apart I found a wall at 4.8Ghz and the same reason voltages wise was the reason i didn't want to push further

It's so fun reaching those high clocks but how much do you really notice even when Encoding movies they still appear to be around the same decompression and burn time

So sometimes I ask myself how much Benefit am I actually getting from where i was before and now especially going with a better cpu then the previous

    Thanks.
Agree with you, it's all about the fun we have playing with the settings to see what it can do, and we learn as we go.

Nice job Dave. Great overclock. I also agree with you and Solar. Pretty much, my experience has been that anything over 4.5 is just for show. But, I can't help myself, I have to play in bios every once in a while. Why else do we buy these rigs?

    Solar,
Can I ask for your settings on your 8350 OC? Not only multiplier, vcore nad FSB, but also nb voltage, cpu nb voltage, HT speed and voltage, LLC settings, ram settings, etc...
I'll be finishing my rebuild with the new 8320 and new mobo this evening and now that I have a better cooler I would like to experiment!

    Dave,
    Nice OC!
Not that I know much about Intel (or AMD ), but looks awesome.
    Cheers,

    Yes Steve, thank you.
The package with the MX-2, the Arctic clean and some other last minute additions has just arrived.

One more question regarding the H100. Both you and Alan told me, in another thread, that you got better results by pushing cool air IN through the radiator, and maintaining positive air pressure, rather than pushing air from inside the case through it.
My only concern with this setup is dust. Would it impact performance much if I attached air filters (aluminum mesh, not extremely restrictive) on the bottom of the radiator or on top of the fans? Of course I would have to clean them on a regular basis. All my other intakes are filtered, and so far the case has stayed pretty clean.

    Thanks again Steve.

@ Bungee, I have the fans on my H100 pushing air from inside the case up through the radiator but my rear fan is set as an intake. I get good temps and dust isn't a problem aslong as i clean the filters. I've not tested the other way around though.
I think it all depends on your case and other fans which makes the difference. everyone's setup is slightly different in some way but the difference in temps is not going to be major anyway really
