depends on what budget. but if your doing gaming i would recommend inetl, the i3 3240 or 2120 for low - medium budget and the i5 3570k for medium - high budget

but if you want to go AMD i suggest the FX-4100 or the Phenom II x4 965for the low - medium budget (not as good as i3) and for the higher end i suggest the FX-8100 ( matches the i5 i think)

hey all, yes the i5s do look real good. i'm going to do some in depth looking so that which ever i choose will be the best for my use and budget. sure don't want to regret a wrong purchase. i have used both intel and amd and like them both. seems that the intels may have a slight advantage over amd from what i have read. back in the day amd was the choice for games but now seems that intel is giving amd a good run. thanks poorguy

hey all, just did some checking on the amd fx-8100 and it looks to me to be an excellent choice for my purpose. it does compare close to the i5 cores. i'll do some more researching, it does look like a super good choice. thaks poorguy

hey all, seems the fx-8100 is an oem only as far as availability. fx-8120 is available. the fx-4100 series seem to offer alot and i can upgrade processor later if i need to. seems the i5 cores are the best but at a higher price. this is what i needed to do to help make my choice. thanks for the input on the different processors. i will keep you posted on what i decide. thanks for the web space and advice. poorguy

You can get a rough idea of CPU horsepower by looking at these charts:

hey all, after checking the charts that ignatzatsonic posted intel seems to be the way to go. think i will save some more money and shoot for the intel i5core. most research seems to point that nothing can come close to them. in the mean time i will keep researching. as said i don't want to make a choice and regret it. thanks for the input. poorguy

What type of graphics solution do you have in mind? On board graphics, a single graphics card, multiple cards?
