Hey, Solar, the reason you did ot have to reinstall your OS is because the chipset is the same ( AMD 990FX ). As such, the os didnt see a "real" change. I have done this quite a few times with an AMD 770, 785, 880g, and 970X chipset. Systems booted right up, NO reinstall required.
    Consider yourself "lucky cool"

Also, I am running an MSI board ( see my specs ) I have only run into a few "issues" with it. One being it doesnt really like my temporary v card (geforce 8500gt, HD4850 just went in for RMA )
Newest nvidia drivers cause an immediate system freeze and reboot (HTSF error) as soon as I play ANY videos . Other than that, no real issues. I am also thinking of goin with the 990FXA-GD80 as an upgrade to my system.

The ONLY thing about the "Sabertooth" I dont like is the color scheme. I like black and blue. AWSOME board though.

Thank you for the input GldnDragn im glad it is like that then because it saved all my settings and pretty much took away MSI's information and switched it i think it is awesome

No hard work for me either the temps are awesome as well might ad

well if you are thinking about going to MSI and plan to overclock you will be disapointed

but if you don't care for that kind of stuff then it would be an awesome board

Im going to take the MSI board and put my 8120 in it then my hd6870 lol walla it is back in action im just going to get a another corsair PSU i gave my Dad my spare

Hi all just wanted to show some pics on my case mod here

Im going all green Lights and trim on Thermaltake Element V case

Don't look at my messy room with all the bags and boxes of new stuff

Also the last shot is of my rig im going to break down to put most of it in this case it's all Blue and now I'll be all Green

Also im looking for some dark green decals if you got some suggestions shoot them to me
Very nice motherboard. Great case. I don't have any lights in my cases but on my two main systems they each have a red and a blue laser led. I have though about getting 4 purple LED's that are kind of going towards the blacklight colour. They are only in my peripheral vision when I sit in front of my monitors but I think they would look nice.
I have 16Gb ram in my two main machines, sure it is overkill but I do more than just surf and do email.

I am currently using this board: MSI 870A FUZION
I am OC'd to 4.2 ghz on my Ph II 965. While it is not the greatest overclocker, it is working well for me. I have also considered the giga 990fxa-ud3 or ud5. The chv is a great board, just a little too pricey for me......and wrong color scheme....I dont like red all that much. Glad it all works for ya too.

All I can say is thank goodness my LG monitors cool blue power light LEDS can be set to shut off after about five seconds of powering up or screen mode changes. I would just be staring at those all day and night.

I think that board someone else has it on here and you can drop AM3+ chip in it that one isn't restricted on voltages but the 990fx gd-80 is also look at the cpu wat socket you are probably running 140 cpu socket the 990fx is 125 limiting OC on a super high clock that is what i got from all that Sabertooth is a 140 watt cpu slot and gave me a good amout of extra voltage to play with thought i would throw that out there

Hey Solar, thanks for the info.
My cpu is a 125 watt (revision C3) so I think I could get a bit more out of her, just not alot.
Maybe not on the 990fxa-gd80, but perhaps on the giga 990fxa-ud3 or ud5. This of course with a cooler upgrade. I currently use an H60 in push pull. This gets me clocks of 4.2 ghz at 1.464 volts cpuv, and load temps of 47c to 49c ( socket temp ). Not really that bad, but could do better with a custom loop, or real wc kit with a 240mm rad (maybe 4 fans in push/pull) and a new case that will take the long rad too.
