Windows 7: Overclocking MHz In Bios

Overclocking MHz In Bios

I have windows 7 with nVidia GeForce GTX 660M
I'm trying to overclock the MHz above the default setting of 10,000.
But when I try to raise the MHz it automatically raises it self to 11111 and when I select "Exit And Save" It never saves.

If this matters any my computer also has Intel HDGraphics that it uses when I'm not gaming, but when I am gaming it automatically switches to nVidia.

Thanks for the help :)

EDIT : I also regularly update all of my drivers

Hi, what are you trying to overclock? CPU? GPU? RAM?
Which laptop have you got? To help you, we need to know at least the components which your laptop has got...

Personally I don't reccomend you to overclock laptop components. Performance gain will be minimal and your laptop will overheat easier.

Windows 7 Professional (64x)

Hello Zoloxin.

As far as I can see this I take this as you are trying to overclock a laptop (just like Dorado concluded.) Sounds to me like you are attempting to overclock the GPU though as you are menioning the nvidia 660m which is a card used for mobile devices.

Before we move forward I would highly recommend you NOT to overclock any laptop components as they are most of the time very hard pressed already as they currently are sitting. If you are going to overclock the computer pmease keep an eye on the tempraters and simulate every move you are doing like you where using it in a very bad position such ad operating it with some kind of restricion of airflow, some kind of "air-tight" material under it so that you do not do these tests in near perfect conditions where it is lifted of the ground a short bit to improve the airflow as this is not an accurate representation of how the laptop will be used and in such case a real life scenario could badly hurt the hardware it self.

MAKE SURE THAT THE COMPONENTS ARE NOT OVER HEATING BEFORE WE OVERCLOCK ANYTHING. In order to do this run benchmarks for all the components as they are all moved close together and the components will heat each other up.

Although if you still think that this is a good idea, here we go. Lets start of by making sure that there are no kind of "boost" functions associated with the graphic card it self as this can damage your card badmy if this where to kick in when we are already runing an overclocked graphic card. Secoundly make sure that the computer is not running in a energy saving mode as this could automaticly reduce the clock frequences even though we want them turned up.
Ones this is done we should move very slowly from here on forward as the slightest changes can do alot to the laptop tempratures. Look in the bios options if ther is any way to manually input the clock frequence as 1,111 mhz is ALOT.

Please come back if you have started the prosedure of over clockibg and have started following the steps and if you have any questions or if something is not clear.
