I was lucky. My card reader fit the adapter perfectly and the adapter fit the machine perfectly.

Ganjiry, your solution looks much better than any stock adapter would have looked since the mesh matches the other covers still in place. Nice clean Dremel work!

Kbrady1979, it's amazing how well your adapter and optical drive match up. None of my stuff matches as well (at least all three are black).

Thanks! I'm a fussy git lol it was either make it look similar or not have it and with my mom nagging me to move photo's from her cam to disc all the time a card reader is a must

C'mon man you know if you could ban the sale of those large cases you would
I would never go so far as to say they should be banned. However, I think there is an unrational desire out there for those who want super powerful computers to equate the size of the case to the power and performance contained within. For others, they really do want to install 15 hard drives and run 24 case fans. However, for many people, we won't ever venture anywhere near that far. A slightly smaller case that can be more easily moved around and tucked out of site can often be advantageous and doesn't necessarily make the computer less powerful or impressive looking. I don't want anybody to think that they simply cannot build their own powerful computer simply because they don't have the physical space to store a jumbo sized case.
Sorry just now seeing this post.

Anyway as one who still has his Antec P182 case, and love it, it's still too small for my then growing system. And no, I don't have 10 hard drives and hundreds of fans, rather the stock case fans, 3 hard drives; two of which are SSD and one 2TB drive. However, I like my system to have breathing room. This is where my Coolermaster HAF X came in. It's a bit too big for your liking, but if I could, I'd have you try it out for a week or two

I did a similar thing with my card reader, Only i chopped up 1 of the drive bay covers and a drive bay converter with a Dremmel. the face of the bay converter needed sanding down to size a fair bit to fit the mesh over it. I didn't quite get it straight though.
Hey you could finish that off real nice with some of that fish tank air tubing slitting it carefully down the centre and then placing it around the mesh opening but hey nice fix.

Now I love my HAF XM stacks of room is actually is wider and deeper than the HAF X which surprised me without that height

...And it carried on while trying to get it out of the box. I had to lean it against the side of my bed and pull the case out sideways.

I always laid big boxes like that on their sides, opened the bottom and folded the flaps out of the way, tipped the box back up, then pulled the box off the product inside. I find that much easier than wrestling with whatever is inside.

That is a nice looking rig with plenty of room for airflow and future expansion.
You could also keep gerbils in there.
Yeah, give 'em an exercise wheel and hook it to a cooling fan, save on electricity! LOL
