just give it 1 more year lol! thats what sucks about computers. you rig is already outdated 3-4 months after you build it......

Don't say that. I don't wanna hear that. LOL

Thank you! I'm not one of those who have to have the latest and greatest. The rig I just built should meet my needs for the next several years.

I think most of us know that by the time we build a new rig and the dust settles on it, there is new hardware that is a little more efficient, or a tad more powerful available. We build rigs to be as "future compatible" as possible so they last more than a technology tick/tock. Yes, I could upgrade to Haswell and get 7-10% better performance, but it won't do anything that my Ivy Bridge rig can't do. I honestly built this PC with the mindset of it lasting well past when new technology hits the market: new RAM standards, new storage standards, etc.........and I'm positive it will. Outdated is a term I use for PC's that are well past their prime, and fall in the category of "not worth the money to upgrade".

Same here Lady Fitzgerald, mine should do a good job for several years as well. Beyond that, I have a spare full retail version of W7 in my desk.

So I got the thing together, it works but I need to install Windows and fit a couple of case lights and finish the cabling off.

For those that don't know, I got a new motherboard.

Will post some better pictures when I am up and running.

Good job, Paul. Nice choice of Motherboard too. I've heard good things about them. That was a quick build.

When I saw the left hand pic, my first thought was "that's a really tight fit in that case".. Then I realised the fancy box was still it's packaging. Lol.

But all jokes aside, a friend of mine also got a Sabertooth a few months back... I said it to him then and I'll say it again now, that is one seriously sexy piece of hardware! Those red Tridents of yours stand out beautifully on it as well.. Very nice choice Paul.
