Here are some preliminary sketches for the case.
I'm pretty sure we'll go with the Stormtrooper theme.

Let me know what you think. It still needs a lot of work, but it is a good approximation of what it looks like in my head.

Obviously, the art was done by people who know what they are doing (deviantART mostly). Once we settle for a final design I'll ask for permission for using it and give credit where credit is due.

Meanwhile, here it is. What do you think?

    Cheers,

    J
Nice find & cut but find quite heavy for the back panel design
    Thanks for your input NoN.

Believe me when I tell you that it involves a lot more work than finding and cutting.

Regarding the back panel, I agree, but it is kind of the idea. It is for a trade show, so one side, at least, has to be distinguishable from afar. Since we are sticking to b&w with this one, we are going for the "heavy" backside, while keeping it light for the front and window panel which is what people will look at when the are actually in the booth.

Nevertheless will do some more "find & cut" to make it lighter and see what we can come up with.

    Cheers,

    J

So here are some preliminary shots of what it looks like right now.
It is a work in progress, so bear with me.

This rig will be presented at a trade show in August, so any advice and tips are more than welcome!

The case will be done in some kind of a Star Wars theme, something to do with an Imperial Stormtrooper, Vader's Tie Fighter or an X Wing Fighter. Not sure yet. I'm working on it right now. Will upload some sketches later this week so you can all give me your opinion and help me decide.

Steve, once again, thank you very much for everything!

Next "special" will be something for Paul. Will start work on it by the second week of August. Any requests Paul?

Well, I leave you with the pics.

    Cheers,

    J
I LOVE this idea. If you know any artists, you could maybe talk them into doing some theme artwork on that case to present at the trade show. Awesome work Juan! Top notch
Thanks for you comments and encouragement Kelly!

Working on it. Don't think we have enough time left to get it done by a real artist, either stenciled or airbrushed. We'll see.
Meanwhile I'll keep "finding and cutting" to see if we can come up with something nicer.

    Cheers,

    J

@Gary, Thanks a lot for you comments.
So far we haven't had any issues with the Gigabyte's G1. Killer series, which is all we have used so far, but to be honest we get one request for one of these for every 5 RoG's.
The Sniper 5 has received some great reviews and is feature packed, but it is the first time we use it.
I'll let you know if it fires up when we press the little red button or if it crashes and burns. Fingers crossed!

    Cheers,

    Juan

The ASUS Z87 Deluxe was one of the Haswell boards I was comparing my present rig with just out of curiosity. I was also looking at the Z87 Deluxe/Dual.
I looked at the Dual too but I don't think it's worth $60 to have dual Thunderbolt, if that's what "Dual" refers too. When I first saw the name I thought dual CPUs.
I don't personally know of anyone who has a Thunderbolt device nor do I recall seeing one. Maybe the next "Beta Max".

    guys quick question,are these important?

I think i had 4 yesterday when i was putting in the CPU cooler and now cant find the remaining 2,also these are not mentioned in the manual i got with the cooler.
Ohh btw,i tried to put in the cooler yesterday but the manual from their website was completely different,it was not for my cooler even though it was in the download section of it. So i did not put the cooler in and now i have lost these things.
After messing around a little i have a good idea what im supposed to do. Very simple actually.
    Put brackets on the cooler
    Put back plate on mobo
Align the two and screw them together.
    That is it.
I think these "washers" are supposed to go between the cooler and the board so they don't touch directly but they are probably not necessary (I assume) since they are NOT mentioned anywhere on the manual i got with the cooler.
And you guys were right, took the board out to install the cooler,it was MUCH easier and simpler. Just time consuming, spent the entire day yesterday doing it (I like to take my time and enjoy the ride )

I think the washers are for an AMD setup

    shinigami8671,
Those appear to be very important Teflon glides for the troopers rifle. They reduce the automatic slide friction and help keep the rifle cool during extended shooting sessions.
