Sorry as cooler was in my head for some reason. The CPU will work with any other mobo designed to accept that CPU so yes...no problems.

linnemeyerhere,
Thank's for the replies. I do understand about the CPU cooler, it comes w/hardware for Intel and AMD's. I did not intend to ask about it.
I did look at the HP site and the list for CPU's, but wanted to know if it was worth changing the CPU at this point or not.
The X6 is 95 watts w/ 6 cores and is included on the list.
linnemeyerhere, found further info. on the Amd Phenom II line of CPU's and they are not being produced any longer and being replaced by FX series, AMD+ sockets.
So rather than toss out $$ on outdated stuff, I will look into a new MB/ CPU combo.
Can anyone help to point me in the right direction ?
Newegg has low prices normally. I'll check there for the reviews and then check prices on Amazon.
Thank's Britton30,
Which ones are the latest and greatest lines of MB / CPU combo's ?
Meaning, what make and model of each.
I'm Intel now, but for AMD the FX6100 and an ASUS AM3+ board would do you well. Pick a board in your price range. I have Intel ideas too, but more expensive.
The FX6100 is a great value. I usually recommend the FX6300 now because I believe the Vishera platform to be better than the previous Zambezi platform. Admittedly, I am not as well versed in AMD products as others on this forum, so I may be way off base. I did find this CPU/MOBO combo that seems to be fairly high end: AMD CPU/MOBO Combo
There are cheaper alternatives if that is out of your budget.
I hope it was correct information.......I have slowly been catching up on the AMD platform.
