Case upgrade advice needed

Are you going to install on to your ssd? If so unplug the hdd


After the installation you can plug it back in and recover anything off of you need. Then you can reformat it. and use it as a data disc.

What am I installing to the SSD ?

I thought you were going to put windows on it.

It was already on it from the other machine I took it out of.

It want me to put in a win7 inst. disc.

I have a plain jane copy, will this do ?

If you just transferred to a new case then just boot from the hard drive. What else besides the case have you changed?

The MB, CPU, PSU

Okay, I apologize for any confusion. Since you have a new motherboard it is possible to just reboot, then update drivers/ bios. This can cause problems sometimes. A new cpu without resetting the bios might not let it boot either I would recommend a clean install. Hook only the ssd up, install clean, then re attach the other hard drive.

What about letting it do a repair install ?

Might work. Make sure to set your bios to defaults first. It might boot fine then without a repair.

Any other options beside clean install ?
