To paint a laptop; Test 1

A friend donated his dead Toshiba to me recently and it seemed to be a great subject for experimentation.

Painting my laptop is something I've been wanting to try for a little while now, but I haven't had anything to test it out on. So, I used this Toshiba as a test subject. I took it apart, masked off areas that I didn't want painted, and, using gloss white Krylon Fusion spray paint, did a little color scheming. It turned out a little better than I was expecting, especially for a first attempt.

If I do this to my laptop, I won't use white. I'm thinking a lime green for the lid pieces and maybe something else on the bottom. Still haven't decided yet.

    Looks good in the pics.

How durable is that paint? Never heard of it.

Supposedly, Krylon Fusion bonds to plastic at a molecular level, making it rather durable. I also applied three coats, just to be sure. I'll carry the computer around with me for a couple weeks, taking it in and out of my bag, opening and closing it, and treating it as I would my own computer, and see how the paint holds up.

An update: So far, the paint has held up well.

    That sounds promising.

At this point, my guess is that if you just keep it in a sleeve and don't let it bang around against other things, it'll stay looking nice.
