I think I'm going to build it on the motherboard box and test it first I watched a couple of videos showing that process and looks like the smartest way to go.

Just a little something.
Double or triple check when installing the motherboard to motherboard tray make sure the motherboard standoffs are installed in the proper place. Not doing so can cause all kinds of damage and take forever to troubleshoot. Don't forget to take a good look through you motherboard manual; it's very important.
Thanks Jack, I have a copy of the motherboards manual in PDF on my desktop also a couple of the videos I got from the Internet talking about the standoffs I even found one video of that exact computer case I bought showing how to install the standoffs.
Over the weekend my wife and I got it put together and it is running perfectly.
I had to order a couple of serial ATA cables so we could hook up the second hard drive and a second DVD drive with lightscribe (went to the local Best Buy yesterday to try to get them and all they had was 1 that was sata 2 not 3 and the guy said they don't carry specialty cables ).
I haven't given it a real hard workout yet but yesterday I was doing the WEI (will post screenshots later today or tomorrow) and with the cool master CPU cooler was only topping out at about 20 to 22°C and at and idle was 5 to 8°C.
I had to go with Windows 7 Home Premium, the Windows 8 pro I have is tied to my laptop because that's where I upgraded the release candidate from

Specialty cable my Aunt Fanny! The Best Buy Guy is an idiot. Unless they are pure crap to begin with, SATA 2 cables will work just fine with SATA 3. Retailers have been ignoring that little detail to justify higher prices for cables that are labeled SATA 3.
You are probably better off with Win 7 HP than with any version of 8 or 8.1 for a desktop.
Looking forward to seeing pics.
Heh, come on, that's a random Best Buy drone. They aren't supposed to know what they sell.
And yes, Sata cables work at any speed. There is only cosmetic (and $$) difference between an old Sata 1 and a new Sata 3 cable. Although some very cheap ones suck even if Sata 2 or 3 (I wonder why ).
Best buy can be a little frustrating sometimes.
Here are the cables I ordered Rosewill 10" Serial ATA III Red Flat Cable w/ Locking Latch Support 6 Gbps, 3 Gbps, and 1.5 Gbps transfer rate Model RCA-RU-10-SA3-90-RD - Newegg.com not too bad $2.49 apiece plus $.99 shipping I am getting those two cables including shipping cheaper than I could buy one at Best Buy so it all works out better in the end anyway.
