    Best Replacement for H60

I am looking to replace my Corsair H60 with something better than only needs one fan. My case does not support those two fan models so I am somewhat restricted. I want to replace it as my 3770k is OC to 4.7 which needs something a little better for cooling. Any suggestions? I have already looked on Newegg but could only find those two fan models as the best.

Is there something wrong with your H60? You could always step up to the Corsair H80i......it got really good reviews.

Get a new case too? I mean, you know, if you're wanting to push your system and all, might as well go for it.

Also, not really recommending this, but you might want to look into "delidding" your 3770K, if you haven't already.

I think it is fine as far as performance but is just not enough I guess. Honestly, the H60 is very nice for only $60 but I think 4.7GHz is just too much for it. I wish there was a way to replace the fluid with something better just like thermal paste. I will take a look at that and see if is sufficient.

That too is a good recommendation but is quite hard. I tried doing this with a used Sandy Bridge Celeron after a friend did to his i7 (took awhile) and it did not go well. It is not as easy as it looks but is very easy to nick the Die. I'm not sure I want to chance it on this.

Can you let us know what temps you are getting and under what cpu load.

On an average Prime95 test I get about 80ºC(177ºF). So not too bad but not what I was hoping to get. I was maybe hoping to go a little higher in OC if possible but definitely not on this cooler.

The reason I tell you the Prime95 temp is because it sometimes jumps that high when opening something or sometimes during games.

How do you have the radiator cooling fan setup? I have a 80i and the push/pull fans run at 700 rpm most of the time. When running the cpu hard I change fan profiles to 1400-1700 rpm, if I don't I see temps climb very high.

Changing the system fluid well have very little effect on the temps. There are products that give you a small boost in heat transfer efficiency, but the radiator core size, and the air flow through the core is much more important. Make sure you do not have dust bunnies living in the radiator core, run a push/pull fan setup on the radiator. If you have space limitations you can have one fan inside the case and the second outside the case.

I don't think you'd get very good results with a radiator full of thermal paste. The H60 is a great cooler but you are hitting the upper limits it sounds like. Just a couple of things: Make sure the mounting screws are still snug, and make sure the inside of the case is clean. I would find someone with an air compressor and blow the dust out between the radiator and the fan. You'd be amazed at how much gets trapped in there. If you are still seeing high temps, or just want to OC more.... you may need a dual radiator system.
