Turn your computer on and open up whatever temp monitoring software you have.....RealTemp, Core Temp, etc. Let it idle for about 30 minutes and keep an eye on the temps. If the idle temps are good and you see no spikes in the temperature, go ahead and stress test it for 30 minutes to an hour. You want to stay right there with it in case it spikes up and you need to stop stressing it. After you have that done, check the bolts to make sure they are still very snug.
I recently installed a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. I did like you said and tightened down the bolts in an X pattern. Since running my PC, I have not rechecked the bolts though. Thanks for the suggestion, I"m going to check them.

Run the rig and watch then double check for good and snug and most pastes will burn in for several hours and some take days.
I used Arctic Silver 5, and followed the directions on their site for my i7-3770k. I'm not real happy with the temps so I'm hoping they'll get better once it burns in. At stock settings, running Prime95, I get about 72c. Idle is about 30-32 (core 0 seems to be hotter than the other cores).

I agree, this stuff is great and makes removing thermal paste pretty easy.
