Will it run 5 passes of IBT without error?
Yeah it will do that on Standard.
Gary set LLC to Ultra High. See if that makes a difference. Also, read this and set your BIOS
exactly like it is except the ram settings and voltage, but leave the CPU Voltage to manual and try again.
Ivy Bridge Overclocking Guide ? Asus Motherboards# One problem you have is your VID is very high, which you can't change.
This is the Sandy chip, but will give it a shot later on.

That is a very good guide. I was reading it, and something stuck out, in the prime settings
I use Prime95 and I have never had a problem afterwards. When using Prime95, use Custom Blend meaning, select Blend first and then press Custom. After that, change the RAM amount to 90% of available RAM.
It defaults to 100 percent which can be to much. Thats what I think might cause workers to error, I could be wrong though

Gary, you said it was the Ivy chip, not that it makes a lot of difference, but change the LLC, that's too high.
I can't get Prime to run on the i7-3770K system, workers stop after a few minutes. I've got it only at 4636MHz and Vcore up to 1.364V.

Sorry, I'm fiddling with both chips. The settings I have mentioned were for the Sandy though.

How hot does the new CPU get Tom Paul? I ran this i5-2550K to 100C once and now, while it works OK, it won't run at over 4.6 stable. Prime shuts down 2-3 core within a minute. It's running with a Vcore of 1.464V.
Sorry Gary I forgot to reply to this, well it gets to 71C at 4.6GHz after 10 passes of IBT. I guess that's not bad.

No, that's cool in an unheated cabin.
Mine gets to 86C at 4700, 5 passes.

It's pretty mild at the moment for the time of year, it's 11PM at mid 60s F. Let me run it again on a cold winters morning

Thanks. Man I need 1.340V or so at 4500. Or that's what it runs anyway.
