I seriously doubt it. But, I usually throw the stock cooler in the garbage. I have used a couple for bench testing just to make sure the computer would run. But, I would never overclock anything with one. I know there are people who disagree, but not very many. Only 1 I know of. But, I won't mention Dude by name.

JK. Why would I actually do that? only a newbie would do that and I bet that it is very hard to get a replacement for it. and also I bet oc won't even work because it is a pre configured computer.

To the contrary you can OC a CPU with a stock cooler but only something mild

AMD stock coolers suck just like Intels but as long as you don't hit max temps with a stock cooler you can do something tame like 200 to maybe 1000 mhz safely i have done it with a 8120 running at 4.2 no more then that during the summer max temps were round 48 to 50 c so it can be done just nothing too extreme

Agreed but aftermarket coolers usually give extra cooling to the VRM and NB heatsinks around the area so they are beneficial not only to the CPU itself but the area around the CPU.

It's gone a little quiet in here.

I came across this yesterday, if it proves to be true it is not good news for AMD guys.

So they become collectors edition chips which might raise in value as less and less of them are around. It reminds me of the AMD 64bit FX 51 that changed the pc world over a decade ago, back when Intel was pushing its P4 line and had to up the ante to match the new AMD wonderhit with P4 Extreme edition. I myself am not a fan of APU design period. I like a *pure* CPU..nothing else in it. But it's ok, the console market will make up for it as it's AMD+Nvidia and not Intel+Nvidia this time around, so game manufacturers will create more games for the AMD architecture. My next build is an Intel anyway, and I will keep the fx-6100 as a memorabilia...might even get a display case for it.
