Well some sad news, I do not think my personal 6100 will go any higher than #10 on the score sheet. I set my volts to 1.68 today, lowered my ram, did everything I did last time and cranked it to attempt 5.2ghz. No go, I then cranked it to 1.7volts ( the red zone numbers in award bios ) it was like +0.350 or 0.40V ( temps were under 40C in BIOS @ 1.7V )I forget, and it was a no go. I guess I reached my fx-6100s highest OC. That does not mean everyone elses fx-6100 chip wont go higher, so to all you other owners of the 6100, keep reaching for the stars. Penguin out.
P.S Should of taken a selfie with me and my Class E small fire extinguisher bundled up under the sheets with a keyboard and all the windows and balcony open just waiting for that faintest smell of burnt phenolic resin or fiberglass etc etc. Was quite a funny picture. I figured I might as well give it a last run, since as soon as my package arrives, it's goodbye 6100/mobo and hello 8350/sabertooth r2.0 gen 3. I hope I can get the 8350 up to 6. I am saving up for a Phase cooler, so you guys better get ready, I have been spending quite some time at frozen PC and have my eyes set on a Super Single Evaporator. I saved up about half of the required 1k for it, so I should be able to get it by mid spring, early summer. Then the fun starts.
Unlucky on the 6100 Ralph, you are right, you just hit the wall for that CPU.
Onto the new CPU, I wish you the very best in your quest to get to 6GHz, I don't want to dishearten you but I expect you will need nothing short of LN2 to get to 6GHz. I imagine it will clock to 5.0-5.3GHz but it all depends on the CPU.
Your specialist Evaporator might bag you a little more, maybe enough to reach the top of the leaderboard, I must admit I know very little about them.
But good luck and I look forward to seeing your results. I also hope you prove me wrong!

Anything is possible really, and when it comes to CPUs it really IS luck of the draw. Two of the same chips can have huge differences in how they overclock etc etc. We will see :)

I agree Ralph but usually on the lower scale of things, i.e if you get a bad one then it may only do 4.6, if you get a good one then it may do 5.2
Once you get into the 5s then things get a lot more tricky.

+1 things get a lot more tricky. But, it really is luck as to what CPU you get. I found this and thought it was interesting. It shows the odds of getting a good one.

Good luck anyway my friend :)
I think the 6100 was def a good one
Yeah a pretty good one, and I am sorry, I really don't mean to put you down before you even get the chip, hopefully it will be a killer chip. I just don't want you to expect too much of it and be disappointed.
The Official Seven Forums Overclock Leaderboards
After some discussions between several members, I have created a new leaderboards thread. Obviously there is still the https://www.sevenforums.com/pc-custom-builds-overclocking/251850-post-your-overclock-2-a-73.html thread, but I thought it would...
