Right here Jack, Windows test is crap in my opinion. there are two memtest86+ out which we use, 4.20 and 5.01. The newer one is supposedly for Intel 3rd gen and up. I've used both. If using the 5.01, press F2 when it starts to use all of your CPU sores.

    RAM (memory) test:

This will require memtest on a bootable CD or USB stick.

Gary, and maybe it has something to do with my board, but 5.01 won't run right on mine. It will run 1 pass then stop. The screen stays there but the test just quits working and will do nothing. But I do like that it will use all cores on some of the tests. I have to use 4.20.

Also, Jack there are 2 tests memtest 86 and memtest86+. The one with the + is the one you want to use and the one Gary's link goes to. For usb use the usb installer version . (http://www.memtest.org/)

Yes, the 5.01 does lock up/freeze for me too on the Sandy and Ivy bridges. It will complete to test 5 or 6 and stop.

I finally found, downloaded, unziped, and burned memory test 5.0.
Running it now and it's on test 6 with zero errors.

If it was my money and time, I would go to ASUS again through your supplier. If he is worth his salt, he'll get a new replacement for you, not someone else's return.
I agree but I don't know what he can do about it.
If Asus sends back a board all I can do is install it and go through the head aches I going through. Prove it no good and do another RMA again.

You gave him the responsibility to get your stuff and said he's always done a great job. I certainly would not be willing to eat $300-$400 for someone else's mistake.
I did with a crap ASrock board, but I fought them for 6 months getting3, that's 3 bad boards, all different ones. I even called the numerous times and they swore they tested it. I called them liars and always take the time to tell people about how crappy they are.

Put up a fight at least. :) Especially with whoever said the board won't run 2400 RAM, he's wrong.

    I haven't given up.
Just gets annoying when I buy quality hardware that is matched to the best of my ability and it always the same problem part.
Still running PassMark MemTest86 5.0 (3:10) no errors.

From here. A Pro and a Free version.
Read all the info. Sounded good to me.

    MemTest86 - Download now!

It's the only one I found that would boot and run.
