    Question about using voltmeter sensors

I have a digital voltmeter ( a Unit-T M890G ) and it comes with K Type Thermocouple cable with a little ball at the end to measure temps. My question is pretty simple, can I touch certain parts of the computer while it's running with this to check for exact temp. I wanted to touch the VRAM Heatsinks, NB Heatsink and so forth. Can I directly touch it while the rig is powered on. Here is a pic of the measuring cable I am talking about. I know how to use the device, was just wondering about taking direct temps. Thank you for your time.

You can touch the heatsinks, the silicon chips, but no bare wires, traces, pins or solder joints

Another option would be a infrared thermometer something like this one.
Just point and shoot. You don't touch anything in the computer.
