Braided Cables Help

One suggestion I have is to plan on what you need and want because 7, 8, and 9 dollar cables add up, especially with shipping and handling, and you may wind up with cables you don't want or need. I'm somewhat obsessive about my cable management to the point that my poor planning cast me about 40 extra bucks in cables I no longer need.

Admittedly though I swapped power supplies which made some of those early purchases moot. Just something to think about.

BTW I bought an EVGA Supernova 1000 G2 (at a much cheaper price) modular power supply. Unfortunately those red GPU (PCIE) cables annoyed the heck out of me so I wound up getting some black PCIE extension cables.

Anyway try to plan out what you need. I suggest temporarily hooking everything up at first just to get an idea of what you want or need.

Sorry for the late reply a little busy today. Also thanks for the amazing advice! I think I will get 1x 6pin, 1x 8pin, 1x 24pin, The sata power cables and I am not 100% sure on the molex cables. But I will wait a little while and decided a little more on what I actually need before pulling the trigger. Due to the fact it is around $50+ for all these cables.

Especially if you discover you don't need them, or their acquisition was insignificant.

And not trying to be funny, and this is for anyone who places a premium on cable management or color scheme... if cabling is really important to you... you might really consider a fully modular power supply, or at least one with fully covered or braded cables...





In the end, this is what I did, and thus the wasted money on trying to beautify a PS with exposed rainbow cables.

Couldn't agree more! After experiencing three bad cables in my last build I don't plan on going down that raod again. All three were high quality made in north America, custom sleeved or custom colors. A molex had the 5v and 12v pins reversed, a 3 pin fan extension was just pain bad and a 24 pin MB cable had a funky connector that would shut down the computer at the slightest touch or movement of the case.

I was lucky the molex was powering a very well made piece of equipment that was able to handle the over volt. The fan cable was just a pita and the 24 pin mb cable had me thinking I had a bad MB or PSU, not to mention all the crashes and reinstall

Every cable gets a dvm test now. I have over 100 connections (50 cables) in this build, a wiring nightmare.
