I've built six AMD rig's and they all crushed as well and can overclock like crazy. Bang for buck AMD still has it's place !
AMD is still the performance per dollar king, AMD well never have the benchmark scores of the high end Intel chips but they cost so much less. In everyday operation the AMD's feel as fast as the Intel that may bench 30-40% better.

That doesn't stop me from thinking about a i7 4960X series some day.

    Update to the saga FYI
Got over the hangover, did the housework, tended the garden, did some overdue jobs around the house for a couple of weeks and took the ball and chain out for dinner a few times and walaahh, back in the good books.
You know the story, happy wife = happy life. The dream of a new computer has been in the back of my mind so.......like the alpha male, (yeah right!!), I quietly crept out this morning and bought the parts. I figure I've got until the next Mastercard statement comes in to live and enjoy it! Thanks all for your help previously and have updated my specs.

That's your opinion till she changes it for you again.
Ya may need a couple more dinners out and a stay in a hotel for a night or two.

Rig pics can do, B&C a little difficult.
Last time I took a photo of the old chook it came out in negative, paintings fell off the wall, the power went off in the house and the dogs from all over the neighborhood left town yelping their bollocks off!!
Jeez, I'm glad she has no interest in the internet.........and won't read this.....or I'd be dead meat.
On a serious note, WOW!!! the new rig flies
So thanks again for the advice offered fellers, it helped me decide for sure.

Good news, you should post up some pics of it in the Show us your rig thread.
