Hello Harribo,
What kind of difference were you hoping for or expecting?
Adding RAM will not increase the performance of a PC. It comes in useful when you are using programs which may take (in your case) the total RAM usage to 4GB where before the whole system would bog down and come to a standstill. But now with the extra 4GB you should not need to worry about that ever happening.
Hope that makes sense, I don't think I worded it very well lol.
Paul.
Pretty much to break it down you will not notice anything unless you are using programs that need more then 2GB of ram to run it
Most typical browsers and apps take maybe 2.2GB of ram programs like Adobe premier might take 5 GB to run leaving your system with 1gb left on standby and you will be pretty much maxing it out but if you are not running extensive apps then 8GB is way plenty
Within reasonable limits adding RAM will improve performance. But there will always be a point of diminishing returns beyond which there will be no noticeable gains. With most workloads you will already be past that point with 4 GB RAM.
youll notice it if you try and encode a 1080p video while playing a game ... thats if your cpu doesnt grind to a halt..
Yeah, I dont really know what i was hoping for to be honest lol!
now going from 4mb of ram to 8mb of ram that was massive!!! remeber the day my dad came home with a new stick of ram and a massive 15" monitor!!
erm 93 or 94 was definutly before windows 95 as I remember getting that as well.
was rare to have a family computer. remember when one day at school the teachers were like "we have a suprise for you all" and they wheeled in a computer.. everyone was amazed.. I was like meh mines better
