Could the original problem start with extra stand offs?
It all depends where they were located. They might of been hitting the motherboard in places the motherboard didn't like.

    From post # 20

Thanks Jack but in post #10 I stated I completely disassembled the system to check there were no shorts or anything. Thus I've not only check the stand offs, but I actually wound up removing a few that weren't needed (they were extra).

    Thanks.

No cause even after that (post 21) I still had the issue. That's what pissed me off too cause I figured removing those post would solve the problem, but that didn't happen.

    Thanks.

Glad to hear you got it worked out. I've flashed a new BIOS and forgot to clear the CMOS settings before and about half the time, funky stuff happens. Hard as hell to track down as well! Hope it continues to work well.

Yeah I'm thinking that's probably what happened. However the restarting issue is what caused me to flash the BIOS in the first place.

In the end I think my old BIOS somehow got corrupted, which is why I flashed to the latest BIOS, which is still listed as beta, even though it's a few years old.

Anyhow when I did the BIOS flash, I probably thought I'd already hit the clear CMOS button. Seems doing it again (or for the first time) fixed the issue this time. Weird, but it's solved now :)

    Thanks.
