If you want to get a little more out of the machine try this as it is the bible of all tutorials for me.
Optimize Windows 7
I use to be a power user and upgraded to the newest/fastest processor all the time, but that was back in the day when processors were ALOT cheaper and ALOT slower..

This Core 2 Quad 3.0GHz does everything I could need it to do. Should it get too slow, I will definitely upgrade. But until this processor gets too slow, there's no point in spending the money. With a 2TB HDD, 8GB of ram and this Q9650 3.0GHz processor this computer loads everything in short order. I don't do any gaming or anything like that.

Anyway, Thanks for the help.

Yep Chad I am not a power user either and I do have only DDR2 on that machine but an SSD and the link for optimising goes along way to making the machine faster and more efficient.

As I think I mentioned I have it as a tester machine and so don't need the absolute speed but if I did I would go to an i5 of some sort of course it would mean a different motherboard though again when I looked round for a replacement Q9650 or any close to it the prices were way over what say an i3 or i5 plus a simpler board would cost so six of one half dozen of the other mate.

Still I am still very pleased it is working now and your temps are way better than mine which are usually around 35 - 40C :)
