Intel Q9650 - Help with Temps
Hey all,
I have a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3P motherboard with 8GB of ram. I had the Intel E8400 3.0GHz Core 2 Duo, but just today installed a used Intel Q9650 3.0GHz Core 2 Quad.
Let me start by saying I had the SAME temp problems with the Old E8400 processor...
Anyway, I am not running over clocked or anything, (I tried that once, and the processor temp INSTANTLY went threw the roof at IDLE!)
Anyway, at IDLE the Q9650 Processor runs @ ~55-60 Degrees Celsius according to CPUID's HWMonitor..
I have my BIOS set to warn beep when the temp reaches 80-degrees Celsius because I had it set to 70 and every minute or 2 it was going off... Even at 80-Degrees Celsius if the processor is doing much of anything it alarms..
It has the OEM Intel fan that came with the E8400. I'm sure there are better fan's/heatsink's out there, but I thought Intel would include a fan capable of handling it's own processor not running OC'ed...
I have 2 case fan's in the side of the case that run 24/7, I know there is enough flow in the case..
What should I do? Buy a better CPU fan/heatsink? What temp's should I be at?
Thanks for the help..
