Thinking of a new fan controller what would be best?

Without going for a case with a built-in controller (Graphite 600T.. nudge nudge.. ), your best bet for "low profile" is probably a 3.5" sized controller.

I'll admit, I don't have any experience with any of them, I like my black Zalman ZM-MFC1 too much to ditch it. :) But, Google shows quite a few threads on OverClock.net as well as a span of them on eBay. See any you like..?

I say it's your thread, you choose the topic.

To be honest, the H440 makes the R4 look cheap to me.. It's a good solid looking case with lots of brilliant foresight in its layout. I see two dedicated SSD spaces in the case as well, which is a major plus (much easier than drive bay size adapters, I promise you).

Something to note though: if you want a fan speed controller in this one, you'd best mod one yourself... It's got none built in and no front-facing drive slots. [HardOCP pic]

The R4 is a bit more lightweight, but it also looks like it's got more flexible options for extra case space. The open-sided arrangeable drive bay configuration is a major benefit if you want some extra space water cooling (if you're going for that) or some fancy lighting. :)

Edit: Just a thought, but you could quite easily take something like a Kaze Q 3.5, drill 4 holes in virtually any part of a case, and attach the dials from the outside of the case. Even hidden behind a case front door if you want..
