The desktops are not dieing as some say.
They are just getting a good cleaning and the wiring and harness are getting neatly arranged.
    Long live the desktop.

If one thinks they have to many computers they just need a bigger computer room.
    Problem solved.
I have only one desktop and need more room for the peripherals.

You have hit a glancing blow on one strongly possible reason why desktop sales are so depressed. More people are keeping their present desktops instead of buying new ones with the despised Win 8 on them. Many of the people buying tablets also have desktops. I agree, desktops are far from dead.
Got only one Desktop since two years now that serves me for all the goodies and multimedia tasks. I came from 10 years of laptop and will not go backward that soon...

The pleasure of a greater monitor screen is too strong!

Remain only my old XP OS laptop that i'm using time to time when servicing the Desktop one, i kept it just in case i have to RMA the Desktop parts. :)

Whoa, guys! Laptops have their uses. I use my notebook as a spare (and the notebook has a spare) for when my desktop is down for maintenance or whatever and for when I'm on the road. I would hate to lug my desktop and a monitor with me when I travel.

Chalk up a third vote from me there. I'll use one if there's no other choice, but I try my best to avoid them like a plague. Maybe if I got to play around with a nice AlienWare I wouldn't hate them quite as much, but then again, maybe not...

So, after having to send one of these bad boys back due to a patch of faulty pixels, then waiting a few weeks while my supplier fought with his supplier, I finally got all three of my 27" LGs running side by side.

Unfortunately I need to use one HDMI and two VGA cables to hook everything up, so I had a bit of fun trying to sort out the colour profiles, but it was well worth it:

Hmm, I suppose this could really be considered the "beginning of the end" for my current rig.. The monitors, keyboard, mouse and headphones are all things I bought for my new build. I'm just starting to get a bit impatient waiting for the flipping PSU to arrive. Speaking of which, I should email these idiots... Again... Grrr.

Very nice ZaLiTH. Some racing games would be great fun on those screens!

Hehe.. It is pretty awesome hey, still trying to wrap my mind around a 5760x1080 desktop size. So much of space...

Those that work, heck yes.. But so far, only one that actually likes Nvidia Surround is Dirt 3. Many of my games crash at startup when I have Surround enabled, not really sure why though.

[edit] Oh, and just to add insult to injury.. Because of my limited cable connection issue, I've got two monitors on one GPU, with the third on the second GPU, so I can't use all the displayed when I have SLI enabled. So... Need to figure out how to get around that at some point too.
