I can see what you mean mate, I certainly don't need two it's just a force of habit from years ago when my single drive died and left me without one. I still use my optical drives now and then, but admittedly it's not very often.
I used to run two CD readers many years back.. Which, I have to admit, started out partly reminiscent of the days when my grandfather installed two floppy drives in his 286. Then I was given a CD writer and I simply replaced one of them. Been running a single Samsung Writemaster for ages now and (as you say) I hardly use it.

You'll get over it one day.. *hint hint nudge nudge*

Just to allow you to appreciate that speed a little bit more... Just last month I upgraded my ADSL from a 1 to a 2mbps line. Max speeds we have in SA are 10mbps lines, and they're not quite "there" perfectly either.

I got COD Ghosts on Steam about 2 weeks back (seriously epic FPS, by the way), but I would've preferred to not have waited 9 days for it to finish downloading. Suffice to say I have a little bit of envy for you people and your almost LAN speed internet connections...

The black/blue looks really bold against the white back, looks pretty darn awesome to me. Out of curiosity, have you considered a black CPU cooler with all blue fans? Not LED fans mind you, just solid blue to match the cables. I think that, along with white lighting, would be an amazing colour scheme in that H440.

Don't think that everyone here in the U.S. has those kind of speeds. There are still places here that don't have any internet access other than dialup or have only slow access via DSL. Satellite is slow and expensive. Cellular internet is a bit faster and less expensive but has fairly low data caps. Fast internet connections, where available, usually are fairly expensive.

I just listen to radio online and use Youtube for all my music needs on the PC.

It's a lot of messing around with CD's/DVD's, you end up with piles of the things everywhere. A USB stick is just so simple. I imagine CD's and DVD's will disappear altogether one day in the not so distant future, a bit like cassette tapes.
They've been saying that about CDs/DVDs for a decade or more and it hasn't happened yet. As far as the piles go, there are ways to more efficiently store them. I have cases that are 7" x 10" x 12" that can store up to 300 CDs/DVDs in each one. I have all my CDs ripped and the album art scanned into my computer. For now, the only reason I'm keeping the case and a half worth of CDs I have is to prove ownership should I ever need to and to serve as another layer of backup. I'm eventually going to destroy them. Although technically illegal (for now; very few people have been brought against people ripping movies, etc. and courts have been finding in favor of them as long they are only for personal use, orphans, etc.), I'm eventually going to rip all my movies as well. It would be way too expensive to buy downloads to replace the movies I already own, not to mention not all movies are available as downloads (the same went for my music). Believe me, for me, an internal ODD is far more convenient and practical. And, as long as the content of CDs and DVDs are better quality than downloads, they will continue to be the most practical source of my content.

Not all radio stations play what I want when I want. Darned few, in fact. I listen to CDs in my vehicle far more often than I do the one radio station in my area that barely comes close to being to my liking. YouTube videos have lower music quality, the selection is limited, and burns through far too much bandwidth.

As far as OSes and programs go, true, a USB stick is more practical but they are only a tiny percentage of the content one can get from CDs and DVDs.
Sounds like you have a pretty old school stereo in your car Lady F, nowadays you can just whack like 5000 songs on your phone and bluetooth it or even just put a USB in. Here's an example, it doesn't even have a cd player and it's not very expensive either - Halfords | Alpine UTE-72BT Drive-less Head Unit with Bluetooth and iPod

Those SPs are good looking fans. Naturally, you'll have to come show off if you do that...
