I just a couple week ago installed a H80i using the stock fans. It cooled well but the fans were way to loud.

I replace the fans with 2 Nocuta and everything is well again.
It cools as well as the stock fans but much quieter. I can't hear the fans from across the room where I sit at my desk.

    Now how loud is loud.
    Example:
The 2 stock fans on the H80i in my Corsair 600t were about 10 times louder than the 13 fans and 2 water pumps in my Phanteks Primo case.

Probably the Noctua fans designed for heatsinks/radiators. Honestly, you could pick out 100 fans and test them and not see but a few degrees difference in each. There's no "magic" fan that will drop temps in half. Your best bet is to make sure your case has adequate and logical airflow, reasonable hardware/cable management(which aides in air being free to follow the path it's meant to), and to keep your internal components clean of dust/dirt.

I do like noctua, but the price? WOW.

I suppose you get what you pay for.

They are pricey, but general consensus is they are the best around.

Yes Noctua did bring out the black ones but I haven't tried them yet.
I have found that Phanteks (black) fans work great also but they also cost around $25.00 @

ehhh, im just going to stick to the stock ones. i cant see spending $25 on the nf-f12 for maybe 3 degree difference.

Honestly the Noctua's are the best all around with noise being the major concern. If temps are all you are looking for then high speed high pressure fans will be best but they'll sound like a wind storm in your machine. Low noise and performance is my only concern, looks and cost be damned. I mean we spend all this money on high dig gear and then run stock crap fans???......to me it just doesn't make sense.
