right .....i see what you've done Ted , yes heat does rise & with the PSU on the deck it makes just as much sense to vent it out the top...

Ted's build is perfectly fine for his machine - his case has the PSU at the bottom of the case, so you do not have to worry about the heat exhaust from the cooler overheating the PSU.

However, Ted, you do have to realize that you are changing the airflow direction, unless you have a side door with vents / fan to allow cool air directly in over the motherboard. I think that that may have been part of Swarf's concern as well.

At any rate, it is your build, and if it works, it works. Nothing else can be said about it.

Well, I'd definitely like to get into an i7/X58 setup, but as of right now that will have to wait

Thanks guys, but I oriented it that way purposely so that the two 140mm fans in the top, as opposed to the one 120mm at the rear could exhaust the heat (heat rises, right) and it seems to be working as it has brought my temps down, on average (idle and load) at least 20c. uummm Swarfega, if that is the correct orientation, why is the writing on the face turned the wrong way?

Have another look at the writing on mine, it's correct.

I'm with you Ted, your way looks very logical to me and I would have done it the same way if I had your case.

Stop being a bully and leave the kid alone Swarfega Jk.

    Hello all.

Yes I have another 140mm fan on the side door blowing in on the mobo, all the other fans are venting out.
