The PSU is no place to economize. Everything in the computer relies on a reliable source of power. Manufacturers can play a lot of games with PSU ratings so two units of similar specifications may have quite different capabilities. But the worst aspect of cheap PSUs is that they do not like to die alone. When they fail they often take other components such as the motherboard with them. That supposed bargain on the PSU could end up costing you a lot of money.

Sadly there are just as many, if not more junk PSU's available today as there was when that article was written 8 years ago.

I'm really not sure why anybody would be looking for a junk power supply or why they would be using a very old list to find one.
