Just built a computer now what?

I built a computer with I5 processor, 16gb of ram, and DDR3 motherboard. just wondering what i can do with it. I tried using IIS in win server 2012 and also bought a domain from godaddy hoping to host a website but im unable to figure out the DNS, any suggestions what i can do with the PC?

    You tell us.

Why did you build a PC rather than a model airplane, a coffee table, or a batch of spaghetti sauce?

wifey and I used to have a nickle-sized spider doing some web-site hosting outside our front door
Seriously, isn't web-site hosting a lot more complicated than having one computer? What about phone lines? Bookkeeping?

I did look at the DNS section on GoDaddys site. I added the host records etc.. Not sure why it isn't working. Do you want to teamviewer so you can look at it ?

I really don't know anything about DNS, Godaddy, websites, etc., so i couldn't help.

You might get better help in the Network & Sharing forum for DNS questions ?

Before building a PC most people have a clear idea of what it will be used for. This is important. Otherwise you may end up spending a lot of money on capabilities you don't need while missing those you do. Building a PC for gaming and one for website hosting is quite different.

Hosting a website safely is not a simple thing. Security has become a big problem in recent years and it is only going to get worse. There are many ways to go wrong and much you need to know, far more than you could learn from any forum. Unless you have a good understanding of the issues involved, including DNS, you are usually better off using one of the many commercial hosting services. Once you have a solid understanding of the issues involved you can consider hosting the site yourself.
