Buzzing Coming From Motherboard? GPU or Maybe CPU?

    Hi there

I've completed a new build and have been testing a few games. I've noticed a loud buzzing coming from either the mobo, GPU or CPU but can't be too sure. The weird thing is I can only hear the buzzing when playing games. If I pause the game the buzzing goes away but as soon as I unpause it, the buzzing returns.

I've taken a quick video which can be listened too here. You should be able to hear me pause and unpause the game and you should hear the buzzing increase and then decrease.

I listened to the video and can't tell much. I never heard anything I would call a "buzz".

The noise sounded loudest at circa 25 to 27 seconds in, but that may have been just because the camera microphone was closer to the hardware at that specific time.

Nor could I tell when the game was paused or not.

I doubt if the video will help us out.

There's no substitute for your own ears as to detecting the origin of the noise.

Can you use something like a paper towel tube as a stethoscope to perhaps help you locate the noise?

I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the CPU directly, other than load level.

Have you rejected fans as a source? Or the PSU? Water cooling hardware?

Does it occur when the PC is under a severe load but not gaming--as on Prime 95 or something like that?

Hey, you can search for it with the term "coil whine". It was common with GTX 970s, maybe yours' do it as well.

Not sure why you couldn't tell when I unpaused the game as you can clearly see me press the ESC key on my keyboard to resume.

Yes I have a fan controller and turned the fans off completely.

I'm yet to try Prime95 but I have used AIDA64 Extreme and put the CPU and GPU's under full load and there is no sound to be heard. It only seems to happen when playing games.

After a bit more research I think you maybe correct. I've watched a couple of vids on YouTube and the sound others are getting, sound very similar to me.
