    Help with Proprietary Motherboard (possibly)

Hello, I recently (and by recently I mean in 2010) bought a Dell 560 computer. Long story short, I'm trying to port it over to a new case, but recently I read that it probably has a proprietary motherboard, and it may not fit or work. Some of you are probably wondering why I don't do my own work and find this out. Well, quite frankly I don't have any idea as to where to look. Also, that was a legitimate statement, I'm not being sarcastic at all. Any who,

    Thanks for reading, details below:
    Motherboard: 0K83V0 Dell
Case: Rosewill Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Challenger S

Your best source of info is probably Dell's own forums.

At one time, Dell PCs did have certain proprietary components--typically power supplies and some of the front panel connectors if I recall correctly.

But I seem to recall that those proprietary issues are less common in recent years than they were say 10 years ago.

I assume you intend to carry over ALL of the Dell internal components, with the new case being the only new component.

My guess would be that the motherboard would mount properly.

I'm less certain about the power supply and the front panel connectors on the new case.

If I had to guess, I'd say you'll be OK as you are dealing with a 2010 machine---but that's just a guess.

Go to Dell forums and start a thread there, stating your exact model number and all pertinent details.

Yeah, that's kind of the opposite, but thanks, you gave the information I needed! I'm actually taking the motherboard and buying a new case, new ram, new graphics card and the like. Thanks bunches!

All you have to do is some custom wiring, very simple, but I wouldn`t use a Dell MB for a doorstop

Yeah, but on a budget of 450 dollars, the plan is to get a new hdd, processor, mb and the like.

    Good luck with that :)

So you are saying you want to put the Dell MB you have, in the case you listed in post #1 ? Correct ?

Could you explain why you want to waste your time doing this ?

Because I can not afford a new one on my budget.
