New ~$1,500 gaming/everyday build: Intel Skylake forcing me go to AMD?

    Good morning to everyone,
I know this question has been asked millions of times but I think that my requirements are a bit different.

I was looking to build a Skylake system the usual parts everyone knows, then I found that I'll have compatibility problems if trying to install Windows 7, and I don't want to install Windows 8 nor 10.

So I thought why not Haswell? Well I love it BUT there is no availability in my area (Victoria- Australia) and I prefer not to buy from Amazon and similar sites because delivery fees will kill my savings.

Then I thought why not AMD?
So what do you guys think?
Can you set a system from PcPartPicker? System Build - PCPartPicker Australia

As you'll see many Haswell compatible parts don't have the price which means no availability.
I usually do gaming also many more things like internet, play streaming, some casual ripping/copying and video editing.

So I need the box without the PSU since I already have a Corsair HX 650W PSU, I think it's enough
For the case I like the CoolerMaster CM690 because it's affordable, it has plenty space inside and BIG fans already included.

    Thanks in advance for help!

There`s no problem installing Windows 7 on a Skylake rig, look at my specs.

You have to choose what motherboard and cpu you want and we`ll go from there. We have no idea how much you want to spend on those 2 items.

    I suggest an Asus Z170 board and a i7 6700K or i5 6600K and a non K version would be even cheaper.

and for a video card you`ll want at least a 1060, but a 1070 would be that much better.

and I recommend Corsair or GSkill memory, 8 GB`s is OK, 16 GB`s would be best.

Intel and Asus still have the X99 motherboard and cpu combination available.

AMD will save you money, but I don't think that you will get the performance out of it that you will with an Intel rig. I am a long time AMD user, and if you look at my specs, I have a pretty good system (I think).

Problem is, my i7 4790 at work runs circles around it. Hard to justify a new AMD build for myself with that in mind. Your mileage may vary.

    Just my opinion.

You pay less for AMD and you get less.

If AMD worked better than Intel I would be using AMD.

    What he said.
Plus, look at some of the Z170 boards from Asus. (For Example:
    Asus Z170-A)

If you can't install Windows 7 on a Skylake rig, why do they provide Windows 7 drivers? Of course you can install Windows 7.

Thanks for the trick, I'll keep this for emergency in case the DVD won't suffice.

My budget is around $1,500 but I can stretch a bit if necessary.

I read that motherboards with the Z170 chip have technical problems, but these are news about 2015, maybe Asus and other manufacturers fixed it?

Can you choose from PcPartPicker web site?
I think that the 6600K is good enough even if it costs around $30 more than the non K version.

I didn't see any on the Australian web shops.

I've read too many reviews and found most of the time people just sympathize with Intel without being able to explain a reason, as well as I've seen too many computer generated comparison tests overall showing better 10-15% performance for Intel without taking in consideration the huge price difference.
And I've watched many gaming screenshots from both Intel and AMD and frankly speaking I can't see any difference.
What I know for sure is that years ago Microsoft was "pushing" its marketing to the edge by saying that Windows is a multitasking OS so I thought the multicore AMD would win hands down, BUT now there is another trend by Intel (and fans following....) that Intel offers the most of its power on one core SO programs would benefit thus AMD is a loser!!
By the way, lets see the parts for an Intel build then I decide.

On the PcPartPicker Australia web site it's mentioned but there is no price while by looking at the online store there are too many variants E, M-E, S, P, K, MPlus, AR and sorry if I missed some!

It's possible and in fact now they provide the tools for installing it.

    Hi,
More than half computers are still using win-7 so most manufactures did make these utilities plus other geeks made ways to create the media themselves too manually
Create a Windows 7 USB flash installation with new drives for new MB's
Updating win-7 is another story :)
Clean install refer to post #2 here
