    @looked

    Please don't misunderstand me.

If you want AMD, then by all means get a AMD.
My choice to use Intel is exactly that; my choice.
You will have to make your choice.

If you want AMD we have several AMD users on this forum that could help with that choosing which AMD products might be best for your needs.

Some of my choices for hardware are based on my experience with certain brands and other members recommendation based on their experience.

I just ordered all the hardware for a new build. It took about two weeks of research, help from members here and lots of online reviews to finally make my choices.
It takes me longer to finalize a list that it does to build the system.

The big things to me is reputation, quality, and value of what I buy.
Those things vary from person to person.

Good luck with your choices and take your time choosing.

    Jack

    P/S:
I must believe that their must be other places you can get computer hardware other than PcPartPicker. That is where research is needed.

It has to be a choice made of technical and practical relevance contrary to what I've seen in most of the forums, people party for one brand just because they need to show they are part of the best group op people, that is why I need to research because I have no chance to use and compare both Intel and AMD, well..... I still have a system with the myth Athlon A and ABIT, but that is another story.

So right now I need a system that will last and I'll be happy with it.

Yes I visit that web site because I need to research but I'm not limited to that, and I know what are the major shops that I already have dealt with.
The problem is that I was looking at the Haswell but the only motherboards I can find are mini ATX and I really dislike them.
Another reliable shop lists what I might want but almost of the stuff is listed as pre-order.
If you know many computer shops here are managed by Asian people so I guess they wait the end of the Chinese New Year before ordering new stuff, maybe I just have to wait.
But if it has to be Skylake, no problem.

I and as far as I know, nobody on this forum cares what brand you choose.
All we do is give suggestion and are reason for such suggestions.
This forum doesn't have sections for Intel and AMD. What ever you choose is find with everybody here as far as I know.

I have used AMD and Intel. I chose to stay with Intel.
Once again choose what ever you want. We will still be here to give help if you request it.
    What ever brand you choose.

    Hi,
Well that is the fun part :)
If you can try to get an asus I doubt it really matter which one but feel free to post which ever you're most interested in with price in mind of course but all or at least most z170's are fairly cheap but store/ site stock looks like it going to rule the shopping day :)

Maybe we could each post a pic of our motherboards and what cpu we have and what we paid for it for you to look at and compare, sound ok

I have an Asus Sabertooth Z170 Mark 1 and my cpu is an Intel i7 6700K

The Motherboard was $269, the cpu was $264, it was $264 because Microcenter always puts new cpu`s on sale for awhile

And here are the links to each of those products.

Win 7 & 8.1 will work on Skylake rigs but you will have to upgrade to Win 10 in 2018 (I think it's in October) or you will no longer get any MS updates. Originally , MS and Intel announced the deadline was going to be in 2017 (after many people already had Skylake systems, one reason I'm building an X99 rig with a Haswell chip instead of waiting for Skylake-e and I'm going to be through with MS after 01/2020) but enough of a stink was raised over it that MS moved the deadline back a year.

MS will support skylake till the end of life of win-7
Besides all this so called support is making chipset drivers available through the update system and who in the heck uses MS chipset drivers
