AMD's Vega GPUs Released. Prices Predictably Insane

The new Vega series of GPU cards from AMD have been released. The first are the Frontier Editions that are aimed at the workstation market:

AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition Retail Listings Appear: Cards at $1199 and $1799

I had thought of possibly getting a new Vega card, but not at these prices. $1200 and $1800 USD is a little rich for my blood. The consumer cards will most likely be cheaper, but that remains to be seen. AMD has been historically cheaper than Nvidia, but with these new offerings, they are approaching the cost Stratosphere, like Nvidia does already. I wish there was a third choice.

I think I'll consider this one the same as I do the Nvidia 1080. I'll pass.

Of course, that is made to hold up against the Titan. There are more Vega products that are going to be released soon.

I'm not knowledgeable about technology.

What are GPU's like this used for?
