    Overclock ThinkPad T400

    Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully overclocked the ThinkPad T400 running the hybrid ATI Mobility Radeon 3470HD with Windows 7 x64.

I don't need any speculation, I've done a lot of reading and a lot of testing and nothing works properly.

    Thanks

I don't know much about ATI cards but you should be able to overclock the card through the CCC. Or you can use a program called riva tuner. RivaTuner v2.24c download from Guru3D.com As far as the ram and cpu, those would have to have the options available in the bios. Good luck . Fabe

    This sounds harsh, but

Then i suggest you don't attempt to do any overclocking as it is a very involved process and requires alot of knowledge of your bios, Ram timings, vdim limits, Gpu memory and what it can and can't handle, adequate cooling, and most of all patience. Nobody can tell you exactly what you need to do to get your system to overclock or hold your hand through the process, as identical systems will overclock differently.
The same GPU chip won't necessarily be able to handle the same increase in clock frequencies. the same applies to your CPU and Ram, if the bios even will allow you to change any of the required settings. You generally raise each setting a little bit at a time until your system will no longer boot or respond, then back them down and run a stress testing program such as Prime95 to make sure your system is stable at the new settings without increasing the heat to a point that it will damage the hardware. Good luck. Fabe

Thanks, I know I sound rude, but I know what I'm doing and I'm just looking for someone with my setup who has got it working, not someone guessing how it might work in theory.

Give ATI Tray Tools a shot to overclock.

Ya my card with 256 bit memory is good. Notice the temp with the overclock.

A good rule of thumb... If you need to ask, you probably shouldnt be overclocking ...
