It is because the Blue has a single 1TB platter and the Black multiple 800GB platters.

True that. The 1TB Blue is an anomaly that way (only the 1TB). If a person needs no more than 1TB and isn't concerned about warranty length, I always recommend the Blue. Speed isn't the only criteria for selecting a HDD, however.

Amazon has it now for $419

I am waiting until july 4th to get it though. I bet it will be cheaper then

well, prices of their SSDs keep dropping, almost like they are dumping. The Samsung 840 Evo was released, I believe, in July of 2013. It is usual for companies to release new versions around once a year. But, that's just my opinion.
