Intel i5 - 2.6 to 3.1GHz
8GB of RAM

Intel Iris graphics - which is currently the fastest graphics chip

If you need a laptop, this one is hard to beat for the price. Take the HDD out and put it into a caddy and replace it with a 250GB SSD for under $100 and you have a really nice laptop.
That's £399, quite a bit more than $399. I personally won't own anything from HP again. The hardware is good but the support sucks!

Yes, as a rule of thumb, things in the UK are 60% more than the US equivalent.
Part of that is tax, 20% vat.

That used to be the favourite a while ago. There seem to be other good ones around.

If you want a freebie, Advanced Uninstaller Pro is free in spite of the name.Advanced Uninstaller PRO.
Soft4boost uninstaller might not look fancy, but it is very good. Don't be confused by the $39.95. That is if you want all their other programs. The Uninstaller is free.. Soft4Boost - system utilities, audio, video, image and burning software.

If you don't mind paying for one, Your Uninstaller is excellent. Your Uninstaller! 7 - Uninstall any unwanted software/program completely. Download for free.

There is a large and ever growing population. People are expensive to run. Very few are true net contributors. It has to be paid for by tax and borrowing. Huge cuts to public services are coming.

And that is on normal US prices. But in the US there are always super deals that we never see in Europe. Example:
