    Hello Brian,

You can use the free program CPU-Z to see what the multiplier is set as. Do note that if you have Speedstep turned on in BIOS or Processor power management (Power Options in Control Panel) set to be lower than 100%, then the multiplier may appear to be lower than set in BIOS.

    Hope this helps,

i already told you i know what the multiplier is at its at 8.0 but since i have a locked chip and i lowered my multiplier windows wont read it at 8 it still reading it at 8.5 but its all fine now cuz i was able to get it to 400X8.5 3.4

Stock is 333X8.5=2.83 windows reads 2.83

this is 400X8.0=3.2 windows reads 3.4

this is current 400X8.5=3.4 windows reads 3.4

Sorry Brian, I missed that "wont boot" part.

You can reset CMOS by jumping the CMOS jumper on your motherboard to reset your BIOS. Afterwards, you should be able to boot. Check with your motherboard's manual for exact instructions on how if needed.

On certain boards with the newer CPU's like the Q9550 you will need to update the bios in order for the correct CPU micro code to be picked up by Windows.
