    New system build

    Hello all,

Well, after a few weeks I finally got the new system up and running after having to go through two GA-X58A-UD7 board that would not post for me, and finally going with a ASUS P6X58D Premium board that did.

I just didn't think it would be right to not share the build with you all. :)

Well, that makes for a very nice rig aside from the low-end video card and the abysmal wiring job :). Sorry, I don't mean to be rude...it's just that clean wiring really makes a computer stand out to me. Even more so than the $1,000 CPU.

Just out of curiosity, why that graphics card? Your system is ridiculous, why skimp on video?

It's just the card that I had from my last build. I'm waiting on the latest cards to all come out and drop a bit in price before I upgrade it. Plus, I'm not a gamer and only have two monitors, so I really don't need high end graphics.

Yeah, that wiring is a bit more messy than I like as well, but there's no where else to put it. Since the case has so much room in it, it really doesn't affect airflow where it's at now though.

Makes sense, it is what I would do.

I tell you, it's not easy to keep the desk clear when I'm working and munching.

Just out of curiosity, if not a gamer...what sorts of things do you run that would really require being on the bleeding edge of CPU's and paying an enormous premium?

That is really unfortunate. I've become quite picky with my cases these days and keeping them neat and tidy is a very high priority. I usually spend hours just figuring out which cable is going to go where and how best to get it to that location. But then again, I'm a little OCD.

Yeah, I'm sure your airflow is fine...it's just not as sexy as it could look. There is just something special about a super clean case.

But hey, very nice build....and way beyond my league. I always buy middle of the road...and shoot for best bang for the buck. I simply cannot bring myself to pay premiums. But what a thrill it must be for those who can. My biggest splurge in the last 5 years has been my SSD drive...and I waited for that to get under $300.

The next things on my list are
1). Replace my 9800GTX+ with something more powerful and hopefully much quieter
2). Get a new 24" IPS flat panel display. Something like Dell U2410 to replace my cheapo 23" that I have now.
