pros and cons of OC
alright ,just want to ask what is the pros and cons of OC aka OVERCLOCKING
regardless of what pc component eg CPU, FSB frequency and Graphic card
alright ,just want to ask what is the pros and cons of OC aka OVERCLOCKING
regardless of what pc component eg CPU, FSB frequency and Graphic card
let me qualify this by saying i dont OC.... but here is it as i understand it
Pros: basically everythings faster
Cons: chance of messing up your system by pushing it too hard, specifically RAM
Pros ... You might squeeze a bit more speed/FPS out of your hardware
Cons ... Unless you know exactly what you are doing, you may well end up with a very expensive paperweight... Just my opininion...
Pros:
1.It's a fun hobby :)
2.Gain a bit of extra performance in certain scenarios
3.Benchmarks look much better.
Cons:
1.More Stress & Heat (Better cooling solution/ventilation a must)
2.Wear & Tear (parts wont last as long)
3.Majority of all common tasks will see absolutly no gain. (such as web browsing, watching videos, listening to music, Email etc)
4.Higher quality parts will be needed. (More expensive RAM, MOBO etc) for best results.
5. Lots of trial and error to find that "sweet spot" with the potential of ruining Hardware or frying RAM/CPU
Just the sad truth about it.
For the record, I am a overclocker.
pro's would be
-can potentially make your computer insanely faster and make it feel like you just bought a brand new machine
-free (or very cheap) upgrade
-when done moderately and you have quality parts (specifically a quality motherboard with safety settings) its much safer and easier than many think
Cons-
-your mileage may vary
-some people seem to get addicted on seeing how far they can push it
When done in moderation I really don't think there is any wear and tear to worry about. key word is moderation.
OC=obsessive compulsive!
Some thinks it's a psycological disorder.
It is like taking Steroids...
It looks real nice on the outside
but it will start to tear you down on the inside.
you can get the girl to come to bed
but bring those pants down
and she'll laugh *lol*
In the end... for over clocking..
Just like your body.. If you push it too hard.. you will start to tear it down.. you will just take years off...or completely shut down.
