Please help with 2 quick questions on new Full Tower case

    Questions:

    1) Going with Corsair H50 water cooler with dual 120mm fans.
Must I draw are from outside and exhaust inside case or can I get good results drawing air inside and exhausting outside ? CPU = AMD Phenom X4 9950 2.6 quad black edition.

    2) May I unplug all my sata devices and hard drives and when building back in new case must I arrange the cables in the same ports to be seen or should the system see where the OS drive is and such no matter where there plugged into ? Oh FYI 3 drives internal non raid, drive 1 has Win 7 Ult. 64 and files, drive 2 has Win XP Pro 32 and files, drive 3 has all lossless music files.

    3) New case is the Thermaltake Element V Black. FYI

Thanks in advance to all that answer me !

    Hi,

    1) It's a difficult one regarding the H50, Corsair recomments to use the fans on the H50 as intake, but you will be blowing hot air and without a dust filter dust over your motherboard.
I used to use the H50 in P/P and followed their advice because I had a dust filter on it and 3 exhaust fans right above it.
What i've read from other users the difference in using the fans on the H50 as exhaust or intake will only be a couple of degrees.

    2) Don't know, maybe another member can help you with that.
I would connect them in the same order myself.

    3) Nice case!

MK2, Thanks for the tip on the H50. I'm going to mount it pulling air out of the case on the top panel next to the 200mm exhaust fan. Case has a 230mm side fan and dual 120 in front. I think my rig will be running much cooler if I promote good flow thru the case. I't the sata cables and ports I really need the help on !

    Cheers!

I read up about it a bit (was curious myself) and it seems like it doesn't matter how you reconnect them as long as you set the right drive to boot from in the bios.

MK2, That makes sense! I'll give it a try. I can't wait to build out my system in this new case, air flow is going to be vastly improved and cpu cooler will help tons as well !

I still number them just to be on the save side myself :)

I have a complete water cooling setup now but I was very happy with the H50 when I used it.
There is a lot of useful information on the corsair forum about it: Cooling - The Corsair Support Forums

Do you already know/have the fan's for it?

Also you'll have to find 4 screws to mount the second fan. they are 6-32 x 1"1/4

I will be going with 2 Ultra premium ball bearing fans with a fan controlling each fan. That way I can find the best blend of speeds and sound on both sides of the radiator. Thanks for the screw info I will need to go to the hardware store to source 4 more. I've been all over the Corsair site as I originally had my sights on the 800 case but the pricing and shipping forced me to go with the swinging deal I got on the Element V. I like clean cases and I was just not happy with many gaming cases....just my style !

I know what you mean, have the 800D myself.
I have some pics in my profile if you want to have a look.

I tested different fans myself, finally used the Akasa Apache Black, good flow/noise ratio.

Confirmed, any order on SATA ports. It doesn't matter the order, you can manually change boot device in BIOS.

These are both good fans (not the cheapest though)

    Scythe S-FLEX SFF21E 120mm Case Fan

Noctua NF-P12-1300 120mm CPU Cooler and Case Fan

These are good , cheap case fans

Yate Loon 120mm Case Fan, Model "D12SL-12" Black
