Do your screensaver thing that should be easy enough, if it still happens, you might need to adjust when your computer sleeps.

Click on the start button (bottom far left) in the little search bar at the bottom (if you are using Win7) type in sleep, should be pretty easy from there, it will have change when computer sleeps, it should give you the options and just say when you want to sleep, or just never.
    hope it helps

Ya had the same problem, and setting the screen saver to NONE did the trick. Feel like a dummy had it set to BLANK

    Solved

I know this is a very late reply but incase anyone is still looking for a solution. I've seen a lot of responses saying you should turn of your screen saver, but that did not work for me and this is how I solved the problem:

    1. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options
    2. There will be options to select your power plan, next to each option there is a blue text that says "Change plan settings" Click the one next to your selected power plan.
    3. There will be two options: "Turn of the display: .... " and "Put the computer to sleep: .... " There you can change how long the computer can remain inactive until the screen goes black or until the computer is set in sleep mode. Set both to "Never" and the screen should no longer turn itself of because of inactivity.
