Optimize Win 7 for small office server???

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can optimize Win 7 as a small office file server? We host our documents and a database program on a new Win7 machine, Core2Quad 8400. Need to ensure that it always is responsive to all programs and never "falls asleep". We used to use WinXP on an older machine, noticed that if a user didn't use it after a while, it would get slow on areas/programs that were not being used (which I refer to above as "falling asleep"). Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Not posting because I have experienced a problem yet (1 day old), just wanting to be proactive.

The best idea might be to use Windows Home Server, which runs quite nicely (I have one).

You can turn off all power saving features, and use an ethernet cable to connect to the office router.

I assume you know how to set up a shared drive, shared printers, etc. (If you don't, I can tell you)
